Throwback to Ace Fest 2020
Will students be split into different groups based on age or grade level?
Yes, the competition will be split into three levels based on grade levels: grades 1-3, grades 4-6, and grades 7-8. The questions/prompts that are assigned will reflect the expectations of different age groups. There will be first, second, and third place winners within each level.
How will cheating be prevented with online testing?
All the online assessments will be launched on a lockdown tab; if a student opens another tab or leaves the tab they’re working on, the test will automatically lock and they will be disqualified from the contest. Everyone will be in an individual breakout room with a proctor and will be required to have their cameras and audios on while working. Cameras must be tilted down towards their work papers to ensure integrity.
Can my students have outside help during the competition, i.e. from parents, tutors, or textbooks?
No. Students must work individually with no help from anyone or anything. Anyone who is found to be cheating during their contests will be eliminated and face the penalty of being banned from any future Ace Fest competitions.
How will we receive our prizes?
When registering for the contests, you will provide us with your address. Contest winners and participants will have the trophies and certificates shipped to them.
Is registration free?
AceFest is a fundraiser that is conducted in partnership with Ace Stem Organization, so registration is not free. Families will pay $9 for each competition they sign up for, and all proceeds will go to ASO.
How long are competitions?
Each competition will be 30 minutes - 1 hour long depending on the level and the category they are competing in. *Chess is an exception, with round timings depending on how long each individual match goes.
How do we register for competitions?
At the top of this page, you will see a button that says “enroll now”. This will take you to a separate form with instructions to register for the contests.
What platform will we use for the competitions?
All contests will take place on Prepaze’ online learning management software, Unik. Participants will get instructions to sign up on the platform after registering for the competitions.
